I originally linked this in my other post, but I don’t think it was a tutorial I think it was just a picture of awesome crayon art. I was immediately inspired to make my own because I LOVE crayons!! Remember my recycled crayon tutorial? That was fun. The possibilities here truly are endless… between the color combinations and the placement of the crayons, I have already discovered dozens!

Grab your supplies. You’ll need crayons, hot glue, a canvas, and a blow dryer.

You can put the hot glue on each crayon individually, but that will take longer. Swirl some glue on your canvas and lay a few crayons down. Line the wrappers up so the same side always shows.

Turn the blow dryer on LOW unless your area is completely covered in newspapers (wall included). When I tried to use the HIGH setting, the crayons went everywhere. It was pretty, but messy. I kept the canvas up against the wall but varied how steep the incline was, based on where I wanted the crayons to go. Point the blow dryer at the actual crayons so they will drip. If you point them at the dripping part, it will all combine and not be quite as pretty.

I put crayons at both end so they would connect in the middle.

Look at those colors! I love them. I let it dry a little and then melted it some more so it had more of a 3-D effect.

This is what it looked like when it was finished. Then, I tried another method by staggering the crayons. It didn’t really have much effect on the project as a whole, but I like how it looked.

I really enjoyed this project and I think you will, too! It’s super simple, cheap (or even free), and would be great to hang up in a kid’s room or to give to a teacher as a gift!

I wish people would stop calling everything they see/do art, it simply isn’t. If you don’t give enough of a shit to properly learn about it, at least look it up on wikipedia or something.
